Senate Confirms Magnus

Earlier this week the Senate, by a 50-47 vote, confirmed Chris Magnus commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the federal agency assigned to enforcing immigration law. During his confirmation hearing in October, Magnus refused to call the situation at the border a “crisis,” even though the CBP had counted 1.7 million encounters with illegal aliens in fiscal year 2021, the highest total ever recorded.
