Not surprisingly, those 172,000+ illegals recently arrived in New York City include some dangerous thugs. A gang of them on Saturday night jumped a couple of NYC policemen who had told them to move along down West 42nd Street in Manhattan. The police had wrestled one of them to the ground when several migrants joined in, kicking the officers in the head and body.
With the cops lying injured on the sidewalk, the illegal punks fled. Four were soon arrested: Darwin Andres Gomez Izquiel, 19; Kelvin Servat Arocha, 19; Juarez Wilson, 21; and Yorman Reveron, 24. They were charged with assault, but immediately released without bail. A fifth suspect, Jhoan Boada, 22, was arrested a couple of nights later. He was charged with “attempted assault of a police officer,” and then — presumably — released without bail also.
The names of the officers were not released, nor were the nationalities of the suspects. At least one of the suspects, Reveron, already had two active charges against him for assault.
Patrick Hendry, the president of the local Police Benevolent Association, said in a statement:
Attacks on police officers are becoming an epidemic, and the reason is a revolving door we’re seeing in cases like this one. It is impossible for police officers to deal effectively with crime and disorder if the justice system can’t or won’t protect us while we do that work.
Criminal behavior by the city’s newcomers is rising steadily:
- On January 7, a 24-year-old migrant was stabbed to death by another migrant at a city shelter on Randall’s Island.
- A neighborhood in Brooklyn adjacent to a 2,000-bed migrant shelter is being plagued by shoplifting, panhandling, scams, and street prostitution, prompting one veteran police officer to say, “This sh-t is out of control. That’s all these people do is rob and steal.”
- Street scammers have also become active in Brooklyn, where migrants pretend to have been injured by traffic, then try to extort hush money from frightened motorists.
- Pickpocketing is spiking. A Colombian ring of pickpockets were arrested over the weekend in Greenwich Village. The NYPD has identified at least a hundred known pickpockets among illegal migrants in the city.
The open-borders policy of Joe Biden has combined with the soft-on-crime policies of leftist DA’s and the NYC City Council to create a perfect storm of migrant lawlessness — not to mention filth — which will inevitably destroy the last remaining vestiges of livability the city has.
