Gang of Four Lam Out of NY, Headed to Promised Land

The four desperadoes who were arrested for beating a couple of NYC policemen have apparently learned that America is a place where you can not only get out of jail free but also escape from New York unimpeded — with help from church ladies no less! What a country!

Immediately released with no mention of bail after their apprehension last weekend, the bunch — Darwin Andres Gomez, 19; Kelvin Servita Arocha, 19; Wilson Juarez, 21; and Yorman Reveron, 24, by name — seem to have lammed out of town with obliging help from a church group. The bus was headed to Calexico, California, on the Mexico border, with a stop in St. Louis.

John Miller, a former NYPD deputy commissioner, said:

Now normally, we probably wouldn’t even be talking about this because the US Marshals and detectives would be waiting for them in St. Louis, but they were released on their own recognizance, which means police have nothing to arrest them on, on the assumption – which they have to operate on – that they’ll be back for their [March 4] court date. The chances of that happening when four people get on a bus with false names and head for the city that literally you can cross the street into the Mexican border is probably unlikely.

Just so.

Like I said, what a country.
