Migrants Shoplift Macy’s Merch Worth Thousands

Four illegal border crossers, recently relocated from south Texas to New York, have been arrested for stealing merchandise worth nearly $12,500 from a Long Island Macy’s. The four “alleged” perps were Wrallan Cabezas Meza (19), Jose Garcia Escobar (30), Miguel Angel Rojas (21), and Rafael Rojas (27). Each had illegally crossed the border last year but had nevertheless been admitted by the Biden administration. They were then placed by the State of Texas on buses bound for New York City, where at least two of them–the Rojas brothers–were put up by Mayor Eric Adams free of charge in a Westin Hotel in Manhattan.

The four suspects appeared in court on January 10. Rafael Rojas and Escobar were released without bail. Miguel Rojas and Meza posted bonds of $1,000 and $1,500, respectively, and  were released as well.

Shoplifting in New York City, as in other American cities, has reached epidemic proportions. In a related Post story published Sunday, bodega owners were quoted as saying they had been forced to chain their merchandise in place to combat theft. One store owner said the problem was “the worst I’ve seen it in my life.” With the current regime in Washington, it’s not about to look any better anytime soon.
