Del Rio Catastrophe Worsens: FAA Tries Cover-Up

It’s becoming impossible to keep up to date with the situation at the Acuna International Bridge near the border in Del Rio, Texas.

We reported yesterday first that 6,000 illegal migrants had gathered there, after crossing the nearby Rio Grande. Then, almost immediately, we had to update that to 8,000. Overnight, the NY Times estimated 9,000, and this morning Ted Cruz, who is on the ground there, said the total was 10,500, the vast majority of them Haitians. What’s more, the mayor of Del Rio, Bruno Lozano, told news media on Wednesday that another 20,000 were already en route from the south.

The migrants are not being detained. The government lacks the resources to detain them. CBP facilities are stretched more than thin, with 3,000 migrants already in custody and no beds available. Hence the almost unimaginable scene of filth and squalor beneath the bridge, which is served by only six portable toilets.

The area is off limits to civilian foot travel but Fox News and other news outlets have been relying largely on video footage shot by drones to report on the developing crisis. Last night, however, Bill Melugin of Fox told Sean Hannity the FAA has announced a “Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR)” prohibiting drone flights over the area, ostensibly for “security” reasons. Melugin said the network had been using drone coverage for months without any such restrictions. The FAA is “trying to prevent FOX’s drone from showing you the American people the truth,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ted Cruz has posted on Twitter footage of an endless stream of illegal migrants crossing the Rio Grande from Mexico into the U.S.

Cruz tweeted:

Joe Biden’s policies are encouraging this staggering rush of illegal aliens: 208,887 encountered in August including 103,129 single adults (up 134% from 2020), 18,847 unaccompanied children (up 507% from 2020), & 86,487 individuals in a family unit (up 3,086% from 2020). Everyone under the bridge is there because of Joe Biden’s disastrous policies.

The catastrophe continues–and grows worse by the hour.
