Ben Shapiro, an editor and columnist at Breitbart News, believes that Senate Republicans are preparing to give up trying to challenge President Obama's amnesty edict by cutting appropriations to the Department of Homeland Security. He notes, however, that "Republicans could stand tall. . . . They could force Democrats to keep filibustering – and they could force an actual filibuster, rather than the pro forma filibuster to which Americans have grown accustomed. They could invoke the nuclear option and kill the filibuster altogether, forcing President Obama to veto funding for the Department of Homeland Security. They could even split the DHS funding bill into separate smaller bills funding each section of DHS specifically, and forcing Democrats to stonewall those bills."
