Richard Trumka, boss of the AFL-CIO, called on President Obama to decree amnesty for illegal aliens. He said that this move would “energize” the left to vote in the November elections. Organized labor in the past supported immigration control to protect the wages of American workers. Now union leaders view illegal aliens as potential union members and dues-payers, as well as future Democratic Party voters.
