Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), a long-time amnesty advocate, hopes that President Trump will support amnesty for illegal aliens in the DACA category, if the Supreme Court moves to remove the protection they now enjoy under DACA. That protection was granted by former President Obama who acted unilaterally to proclaim it without the consent of Congress–a clear violation of the separation of powers under the Constitution.
Graham claimed that Trump expressed support for this idea in a meeting with him and other Republican senators. He an other amnesty advocates see repeal of DACA as an emergency for the illegal aliens it now covers. Opponents of the idea see no reason why this alleged emergency needs a remedy.
