Texas Remains Defiant

We recently reported on the Supreme Court’s 5-4 ruling that the federal government can remove razor wire and other barriers that Texas has placed on the border to stem illegal immigration. Some analysts predict more legal action to follow on this issue.

In any case, Texas doesn’t seem to be backing away from its commitment to secure its border with Mexico. A day after the Court’s decision, state authorities began erecting more razor wire. Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Lt. Chris Olivarez has affirmed that his state “will maintain its current posture in deterring illegal border crossings by utilizing effective border security measures – reinforced concertina wire and anti-climb barriers along the Rio Grande.”
