Supreme Court Protects DACA

The Supreme Court in a 5 to 4 decision decided to leave the DACA program in place. It allows a category of illegal aliens to live and work in this country. President Barack Obama decreed DACA without seeking the consent of Congress although he had previously admitted that he didn’t have the authority to do so.

Rosemary Jenks of NumbersUSA expressed disappointment with the ruling: “[T]he majority opinion on DACA failed to consider what Justice Thomas rightly concluded: DACA was an illegal use of executive authority from the start. Clearly, an illegal policy must be reversed in order to restore the rule of law. The Court’s decision to require the administration to jump through additional procedural hoops to terminate an unlawful program that was created without jumping through those same hoops makes no sense.”
