The Washington Post, unlike many other pro-migration media outlets, concedes that our southern border is in chaos. In a recent editorial it stated that:
“In its apparent desperation to fashion an immigration strategy that will impose order on increasingly out-of-control migration, the Biden administration has unleashed a torrent of words and goals untethered to specific policies and timetables. To date, on immigration, officials have effectively reversed and rolled back some of the Trump administration’s most pernicious policies, but without a clear road map to address the immediate crisis — a decades-high surge illegal border-crossing. . . .”
Since the Post has consistently favored a de facto policy of open borders, some observers wonder why it is criticizing Biden for doing just that. One explanation is that the Post wants Biden to give at least the appearance of maintaining the border, even as he keeps it open. Otherwise, the obvious chaos might spark a backlash of voters during next year’s mid-term elections.
