Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas recently claimed that his agency has deported a “record number of individuals” at U.S. borders. Figures from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) give a different perspective.
In Fiscal Year 2023, 142,580 illegal aliens were deported. But during that same period 3.2 million of them were encountered on the borders. This means that in fiscal 2023, an illegal alien had only a 4.4 percent change of being deported. With odds like that, it’s no wonder they keep coming.
