While employer sanctions have become a dead letter in the U.S., Tory Immigration Minister James Brokenshire warned that businesses that employ illegal workers will be hit with “the full force of government machinery,” the BBC reported today. He said “rogue employers” who give work to illegal migrants were denying UK citizens jobs, driving down wages and gaining an “unfair advantage.”
Increased raids are planned. Employers face heavy fines and jail sentences. Labour Party officials said even more could be done.
