Aid for Ukraine, Not U.S. Border

On Saturday the House voted for an aid package of $95 billion for the following countries: Israel, Taiwan, and Ukraine. The latter will receive 61 billion of that total. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) had earlier promised that a foreign aid bill of this sort would not pass unless it also provided funding to help secure our border against illegal immigration. He stated that this was “a hill to die on.” But when push came to shove, Johnson rolled over, and there were no allocations for our border.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) commented on the House vote: “Ukrainian flags fly in the chamber of the UNITED STATES House of Representatives as they vote to send more of your hard-earned money to a corrupt foreign regime. And just like that they shout “UKRAINE! UKRAINE!” while happily working to secure Ukraine’s borders, not ours.”
