Borders Are ‘Inhumane’

The Quote Below—More Misinformation from the Media

“The Biden administration relaunched the Trump-era border policy known as Remain in Mexico on Monday, kicking back into gear the program allowing officials to send non-Mexican migrants to Mexico to await their US immigration court hearings. . . .

“Under the Trump administration, thousands of migrants were subject to the program, formally known as Migrant Protection Protocols, and resided in makeshift camps along Mexico’s northern border often in squalor and dangerous conditions.

“President Joe Biden pledged to end the program and began the process of admitting those migrants who had previously been subject to it. But a federal judge in Texas disrupted those plans when he ordered the administration to revive the policy. . . .

“White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Monday that the Biden administration was not eager to move ahead with the program, telling reporters Monday that DHS put in place changes to ‘improve humanitarian components,’ but added the administration still feels the program is ‘inefficient, inhumane.’

” ‘We did not eagerly reimplement it,’ Psaki said. Those changes haven’t quelled concerns among advocates.

” ‘It’s lipstick on a pig. But it’s still a pig,’ said Sue Kenney-Pfalzer, director of border and asylum network at HIAS. ‘[Remain in Mexico] MPP is just plain inhumane.’

“ ‘It’s a little less inhumane perhaps, but it’s still inhumane. Now that it’s here and we have no choice we’re going to figure out a way to get services to people.’. . ..’ “—‘Remain in Mexico’ Program Restarts, Fueling Frustration Among Immigration Advocates, Priscilla Alverez and Geneva Sands, CNN 12/6/21 [Link]

Fact Check of Above Quote: The background of Trump’s remain in Mexico policy was the growing abuse of asylum claims by illegal aliens and their enablers. The purpose of asylum is to grant refuge to people who face political persecution on such grounds as ideology, religion and ethnicity. It is not meant for people who are simply seeking to improve their economic situation—which is the primary motive of most migrants trying to cross our border. But if they get here and fraudulently claim asylum, they can often manage to stay. Trump’s policy kept them in Mexico while their claims were being judged. This action helped to stem a flow of migrants that was beginning to overwhelm us.

The incoming Biden Administration didn’t like that outcome and quickly moved to abolish remain in Mexico. The flood of migrants resumed. Then a federal judge ruled that remain in Mexico had to be reinstated. The administration, in the works of its spokeswoman Jen Psaki, was not “eager” to reimplement it. That’s quite an understatement, as shown by the loopholes the administration has put in place to undermine the policy. The Trump version didn’t have these features. They include provisions which may allow a person to enter the U.S. if he claims to face crime in Mexico, or if he claims to be homosexual or transgender. Furthermore, non-Spanish speaking migrants won’t have to stay in Mexico.

Despite these loopholes, mass immigration advocates are unsatisfied and refer to Biden’s version of the policy as “inhumane.” It’s becoming more and more obvious that nothing less than the complete erasure of our borders and national sovereignty will placate these subversives.
