Texas Gov. Greg Abbott recently signed legislation allocating $800 million for border security over the next two years. This outlay will provide for air surveillance of the border, more state troopers and Texas Rangers, a crime data center, and a law enforcement training center. Abbott said that weak border security will allow Mexican drug cartels to get a foothold in Texas–an outcome he intends to prevent.
