Americans who live in Texas near border areas favored by illegal aliens for entering the U.S. say the lawlessness and violence is increasing. A report today by Ryan Lovelace of National Review Online puts the lie to the Obama administration’s claim that “the border is more secure than ever.”
Lovelace visited Ronnie Osburn, a rancher in Brooks County, TX, whose home was broken into by illegals just a few days ago. He had left his house for about 45 minutes, and when he returned it had been trashed. Border Patrol agents and sheriff’s deputies responded, but could not find the trespassers. A deputy told the reporter that the break-in was by “undocumented crossers.”
“Welcome to South Texas,” Osburn told reporter Lovelace. “This is not the first time this has happened.” Osburn says he has to sleep with a pistol beside his bed. When mowing the lawn, Osburn says, ranchers always need a pistol with them.
Writes Lovelace: “Other ranchers tell me that the amount of OTM — other than Mexican — traffic is increasing in South Texas, and that the disposition of the travelers has grown more hostile. Ranchers say the immigrants who reach Brooks County are ready to fight.”
