Supreme Court Rules Against Illegals

The Supreme Court ruled unanimously that illegal aliens living in the United States under the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) are not allowed to apply for a green card, which would grant them permanent residence in the U.S. TPS permits foreigners to stay temporarily if conditions in their home country impose great hardship or danger.

They are supposed to return when those conditions improve. The Court reasoned that temporary legal status does not put put illegal aliens on track for permanent residence. The ruling could apply to tens of thousands of illegal residents now residing here under TPS.
