Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says that if Congress doesn’t pass amnesty legislation by the end of summer, President Obama should simply decree a sharp cut in deportations of illegal aliens. Obama has no legal authority to make such a move. During his administration genuine deportations (not counting aliens caught at the border) have significantly declined.
