Despite a nine-year-old law mandating construction of 700 miles of double-layer fencing along the U.S.-Mexican border, the Obama Department of Homeland Security admits only 36 miles of double-fence has been erected. 1,300 miles — 66% — of the border has no fence at all.
This information came in response to questions from Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), a member of the Judiciary Committee.
