Obama to the World: “All-y, All-y In Come Free”

National Review Online article, “What an Open Border Looks Like,”  posted today by Ryan Lovelace describes the growing number of illegal aliens looking for a Border Patrol officer to surrender to as soon as they get across the border.  While most of the media attention has been on the flood of unaccompanied minors from Central America, the Obama policy of “catch and release”  seems to be being applied to almost all illegals, with the exception (for now?) of Mexicans caught at the border.

Albert Spratte, the sergeant-at-arms of the National Border Patrol Council Local 3307 in the Rio Grande Valley, talked to Lovelace.  He described a recent, common incident in which a man walks out of the brush near McAllen, Texas, and comes up to his Border Patrol truck.  The man says he is from El Salvador and is headed to California for a remodeling job.  He says he has been to the U.S. before and adds that he still has the paperwork of his order to appear in court from several years ago. After being given some Gatorade and water, he is taken to a local Border Patrol station.  Instead of being sent back home, he will probably be let go with an “order to appear” at a later date.  If (when) he fails to appear, he will be deported in absentia, but almost certainly will not be pursued unless he commits another crime.
