Japan Should Ignore Him

The Quote Below—More Misinformation from the Media

“New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, a staunch civil rights advocate for illegal migrants is on a political mission in Japan. Murphy, who touts New Jersey as a sanctuary state for migrants who illegally entered the country is now in a country where illegal immigrants are treated like criminals, many being held indefinitely in detention centers.

“The country was criticized by Amnesty International earlier this year over a proposed bill to strengthen the country’s anti-immigration laws.

“Amid new legislative moves to increase detention powers for migrants, asylum seekers in Japan have criticized the country’s immigration system for its severe conditions and human rights violations. A report from Amnesty International supports these claims, highlighting instances of hunger strikes and suicide attempts among detainees. . . .The Japanese government is revisiting an amendment to its Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act, which would allow indefinite detention of irregular migrants, . . .

“Japan has the lowest refugee acceptance rate among G20 nations, accepting only 74 applications in 2021 out of more than 10,000 submissions. The new legislation, which could be passed during the current parliament session running until June, continues to face strong opposition for its potential to further undermine migrant rights.

“Critics of the system argue that instead of addressing these urgent concerns, the Japanese government is moving in the opposite direction with this bill. The Amnesty International research, based on interviews and meetings with immigration officers and NGOs, adds significant weight to calls for comprehensive immigration system reform in Japan.”— Phil Murphy Is in Japan Where Illegal Immigration Is Still Illegal, Robert Walker, Shore News Network, 10/16/23 [Link]

Fact Check of Above Quote: It’s bad enough when American open border advocates subvert their country’s laws and sovereignty, but some like Gov. Plil Murphy aren’t content with just doing that. They want to preach their gospel of subversion around the world. The Japanese would be very foolish if they pay him any heed.

It’s ironic that this article calls Murphey a “civil rights advocate.” Our Civil Rights movement of the Sixties rested on the conviction that black Americans deserved full civil rights because they were American citizens. In contrast, the open border movement makes citizenship an irrelevant category. How can anyone claim rights when those supposed rights have no connection to a national community and its laws? The open-border ideology is an expression of anarchy, and under anarchy no rights exist except those derived from the principle that might makes right.

The article seems to think it’s odd that the Japanese view illegal aliens as criminals. Well, if they have broken Japan’s immigration laws, just what else are the Japanese supposed to call them? It seems that the underlying premise of open border advocates is that immigration laws aren’t really laws at all, and  that those who break them really aren’t criminals.

Japan as a sovereign country has the right to enact the laws it wishes. Perhaps it may choose to make those laws more lenient, or perhaps not. Whatever the case, the Japanese seem to favor immigration laws that serve their national interest. As a consequence, they have not followed the sad example of the United States and the other Western countries that have heedlessly opened their doors to massive legal and illegal immigration. Japan today enjoys a peaceful and stable society. In contrast, consider countries like France, which enjoyed a nation-wide upheaval last summer thanks its immigration-fueled “diversity.”

The Land of the Rising Sun needs Phil Murphy’s advice as much as it needs more earthquakes and tsunamis.
