Northern Border Spikes, NH Gov Responds

Illegal traffic from Canada across our northern border is continuing to spike. Across the entire border from Maine to Washington State, there were 7,633 encounters of illegals through July of Fiscal Year 2023, compared with 2,238 for all of FY 2022 and 916 in all of FY 2021. While this number seems small alongside those of our southern border (where monthly averages are running at more than 200,000 encounters), it is huge contrasted with previous years.

It is so huge that one northern governor, Republican Chris Sununu of New Hampshire, has had enough. Yesterday, Sununu announced the formation of the “Northern Border Alliance Task Force,” a partnership between state, county and local law enforcement, and forest rangers and Fish and Game officers that will increase border patrol hours from roughly 55 per month to a total of 10,000 hours over the next 18 months.

The governor explained that this action was made necessary by an entire lack of action from Washington:

We asked the federal government for help. We’ve been denied. There’s nothing that’s come from the federal government. No additional efforts out of the federal government.

There is no surprise here. Anyone paying attention knows that the Biden administration is committed to but one goal: to admit as many aliens into this country as they possibly can while they can. Eventual amnesties will make them citizens and Democrat party voters, which will seal the deal of leftist rule in America for all time.
