The U.S. Canadian border is also witnessing a spike in illegal immigration. In the past five months along that frontier, illegal crossings have increased almost ten times from what they were at this time last year.
New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu has asked Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to increase enforcement along the Canadian border with his state and has offered the assistance of the state police.
He has not received a positive response. “Over the last few months,” said the governor, “the State of New Hampshire has attempted to assist the federal government in securing our northern border. These offers of assistance have been repeatedly rejected. The Biden administration has cut funding and hindered the state’s ability to assist in patrolling the northern border.”
