Republican leaders who support amnesty are trying to downplay the issue of illegal aliens getting a pathway to citizenship after passage of amnesty. Republicans who oppose amnesty maintain that citizenship for illegal aliens will create a huge voting bloc for liberal Democrats. House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH), who supports amnesty, stated there are “literally dozens and dozens of [other] issues that are involved in immigration reform.”
