Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) endorses mandatory use of the E-verify system by businesses. E-Verify enables employers to check federal data bases to help determine whether job applicants are authorized to work in the U.S. The program in most instances is voluntary. DeSantis believes that making the program mandatory for all employers would do much to prevent illegal aliens from taking American jobs. Florida has partial mandatory E-Verify.
