Poll: Carry Out Deportations

Ken Cuccinelli, acting head of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, said that immigration authorities are prepared to carry out the large-scale deportations of illegal aliens that President Trump recently announced. Appearing on CBS News’ Face the Nation, Cuccinelli stated “They’re ready to just perform their mission, which is to go and find and detain and then deport the approximately one million people who have final removal orders.” Read more at breitbart.com 

Poll: Immigration Is Top Issue

Immigration has become the top issue that concerns voters, according to a new Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll survey. Previously the greatest concern was health care. Currently, the survey found, 42 percent of registered voters say immigration is their top issue, compared with 38 percent who picked health care as their leading concern. Mark Penn, the co-director of the poll, cited chaos at the border as the reason for the shift in priorities.   Read more at thehill.com

AOC Draws Criticism

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), also known as AOC, has strongly complained about conditions for migrants in detention centers--which are overrun due the massive recent influx of border crossers. In reply,  former GOP House Speaker Newt Gingrich replied that policies supported by lawmakers like AOC cause the border crisis in the first place and that she refuses to vote for legislation to improve the situation. Said Gingrich, “People like AOC create the disaster, refuse to fix it, vote against funding to help people and then go down there to attack the people who are saying to her, ‘we don’t have enough money, we don’t have enough facilities.’” The former House Speaker called her "viciously dishonest."  Read more at foxnews.com
