Fox News host Tucker Carlson  noted that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi thinks a border wall is "immoral" even though she and other opponents of a border wall have walls around their personal properties. Said Carlson, "We contacted Speaker Pelosi to find out [if she thinks personal walls should come down]. She didn’t reply. Neither did the other Democrats we called. It turns out they have no plans to eliminate anyone else’s walls, and certainly not their own. They just don’t want a wall to protect America. They don’t think our country deserves that." President Trump's son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner said that a "number one" priority of the Trump Administration is "to protect American wages." Kushner didn't explain how this objective was consistent with the administration's announced objective to maintaining or even increasing the nation's current flow of legal immigration, now at the highest sustained level in our history. The House recently passed legislation to grant amnesty to illegal aliens. Now Democrat Senators are urging the Senate to pass a companion bill. Among them Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), Ben Cardin (D-MD), and Tim Kaine (D-VA). Seventeen Republican House members have signed a "discharge petition" to bring a vote on the DACA amnesty to the floor of the House. Almost all Democrats are expected to sign it. If a total of 25 Republicans sign on, the petition will pass, and a vote will take place. The bill is strictly to grant amnesty, and offers no concessions to genuine immigration reformers such as an end to chain migration or funds to build a border wall.  Without an end to chain migration, the amnestied DACA illegal aliens will be able to bring in a stream of their relatives in the future. Many Democrats favor chain migration as a means of building their party's political clout. The Republicans supporting the discharge petition seem to think that this will help them win their up-coming mid-term elections.
