Biden’s Plan Isn’t Fair

The Quote Below—More misinformation from the Media:

“President Joe Biden has offered a comprehensive immigration plan worthy of bipartisan support. Will it receive the bipartisan backing it deserves? If past is prologue, Congress will fail to seize the opportunity.

“Nevertheless, let’s be clear, this is a dramatic shift from the cruelty manifest in immigration policies under the Trump administration. Biden’s plan is humane, fair, smart on security and realistic about our workforce. By putting it forward at the start of his presidency, Biden has signaled seriousness about a hot-button issue that has for too long divided this nation.

“This is not about building walls and demonizing people but building economic and humane solutions for the betterment of the United States and the Americas. . . .

“(The bill), combined with longer-term changes, will ensure a brighter and better future for America,” said Benjamin Johnson, executive director of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.

“Johnson is right. Immigrants, despite living in the shadows, are part of the national fabric. They have proved to be essential workers during the pandemic, as Trump acknowledged when he allowed the government to continue processing thousands of visas for temporary workers, including farmworkers and crop pickers — jobs spurned by U.S. citizens. . . .

“Despite the bold but reasonable approach the new president is taking, it will not be easy. There is a reason this has failed so many times. We can hear the chants of “Amnesty!” now. But it doesn’t have to be this way. . . .

“There is a window of opportunity here. Seize it.” – Editorial: Biden’s humane immigration plan worthy of support, Editorial Board, [San Antonio] Express-News, 1/29/21 [Link]

Fact Check of Above Quote: These editorial writers claim, without explanation, that former President’s Trump’s immigration policies were “cruel.” That is true if one believes that requiting foreigners to respect and obey our laws is cruelty—which it most certainly isn’t. In contrast, these writers allege, Biden’s plan is “humane, fair, smart on security and realistic about our workforce.”

What Biden proposes is repeal of most immigration law enforcement. One source in Customs and Immigration Law Enforcement (ICE) says that the Biden agenda is de facto abolition of ICE. The new administration seeks to repeal what former President Trump did to stop illegal immigrants who make bogus asylum claims from overwhelming our border. He also wants to grant amnesty and citizenship to 11 million or more illegal aliens now living in the U.S.—a clear invitation for more illegal aliens to come in hope that they too can reap these rewards.

What is fair about allowing foreigners to break our laws when American citizens have to obey them? We can’t hope for amnesty if we refuse to pay income taxes. Also, what is fair about allowing illegals to step in front of would-be legal immigrants who respect our country and want to play by our rules? And where is the fairness to American workers, particularly those in the lower income bracket, who have to compete with illegal aliens for jobs?

Currently we have 17 million Americans who are either unemployed or who can’t find full-time employment. Do these editorial writers care about what is “humane” for them?” Contrary to what they suggest, native-born Americans are willing to do most jobs, as evidenced by the fact that they make up the majority of workers in almost every occupation.

Agriculture is one exception, but only a small percentage of illegal aliens work on farms. The rest compete with Americans in occupations where Americans predominate. Furthermore, we are now on the brink of large-scale automation which will perform many jobs, including those in agriculture.

These editorial writers claim that Trump policies “demonized” illegal immigrants, but the tone of this editorial certainly demonizes Trump and those who have supported his reasonable policies. This fraudulent moralizing serves disreputable vested interests, among them cabal of immigration lawyers cited in the editorial. These interests seek financial gain and political power from mass immigration. Their aims have nothing to do with fairness, humanity or justice.
