AZ Sheriff: 2O Million Could Get Obama Amnesty

Paul Babeu, sheriff of Pinal County, Arizona, on Monday said as many as 20 million illegals will qualify for deferred deportation under President Obama’s new amnesty plan — not the 4 to 5 million number used by the president and most of the media.

Babeu, appearing on Fox News, said: “The fact is, it’s not just the 5 million that President Obama promised, we learned that Jeh Johnson, the Secretary of Homeland Security, put out a six-page memo and he said that anybody who’s been here since January of this year, anybody prior to that date, they are allowed to stay here.”

Babeu explained that Obama’s plan will give many illegals who have been here five years or more work permits and other benefits, but that it also gives the much larger number of illegals who arrived as recently as a year ago freedom from deportation. He said this was going to make the situation even worse along the southern border: “It sends the wrong message. It’s a big neon sign flashing…make it to the border and you’re home free.”
