200,000 Deportation Cases Dismissed by Biden Admin

An alien illegally in this country is required to appear before an immigration court at some point to make his case for legal admission. That process is initiated by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) by the filing of a document called the “Notice to Appear (NTA).” The immigration courts are unable to adjudicate the alien’s status without an NTA. According to a recent report, the government is failing to do so in a huge number of cases.

Citing the report, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, and Tom McClintock (R-CA), chairman of the Immigration Subcommittee, have sent a letter to DHS Secretary Mayorkas charging that the Biden administration has failed to file such documents in a whopping 200,000 cases. Those failures have resulted in the dismissal of those cases for “Failure to Prosecute.” As a consequence, in the words of the Committee, “these illegal aliens are roaming the streets without accountability.”

Between 2017 and 2020, by comparison, there were only 15,546 dismissals for failure to prosecute. Add the 200K failures to the breathtaking number of failures racked up by Joe Biden.
