Rep. Steve King (R-IA) stated that continued high levels of immigration from Central and South America will jeopardize the safety of Americans. He noted that “[Nine] of the most violent countries in the world [and] sixteen of the top 20 are south of the Rio Grande. [Eighty-one percent] who cross the border illegally are young men. Young men in every society are the most violent segment. Importing millions of this demographic means death for Americans.”
