“If the mountain will not come to Mahomet, Mahomet must go to the mountain.”
That’s an old aphorism, credited to Francis Bacon, meaning if one attempt at a solution doesn’t work, try a different one. In the current case, Veepess Kamala Harris, long ago dubbed Immigration Czar, has never found her way down to our southern border to view the massive illegal immigration taking place there. What to do?
Leave it to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to find another way to show her the border: on Christmas Eve, three busloads of illegal migrants (about 140 in number) were dropped off at her Naval Observatory doorstep in Washington, DC on the night of December 24.
Though Harris herself was apparently unavailable to greet them, local volunteers handed out blankets and escorted the newcomers to a nearby church.
The Biden administration–or at least those few on duty–was predictably apoplectic over the incident. Low-level spokesman Abdullah Hasan (officially the Deputy Associate Director for Communications for the White House Office of Something or Other) issued a statement calling the action a “cruel, dangerous, and shameful stunt.”
For his part, Gov. Abbott simply tweeted an update to his migrant exportation efforts:
Texas has bused over 15,900 migrants to sanctuary cities.
⁃ Over 8,900 to DC
⁃ Over 4,900 to NYC
⁃ Over 1,500 to Chicago
⁃ Over 630 to Philadelphia
We’re providing relief to local communities overwhelmed by President Biden’s open border policies.
