Sessions: Amnesty Bill Needs Careful Consideration

Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) repeated his concern that some senators want to move too quickly on amnesty legislation. With reference to the failed 1986 amnesty, Sessions stated, “Never again can Congress pass a far-reaching proposal only for the American people to find out what’s in it later. What we need, and must have, is a full and thorough national discussion over every component of this bill.” He added that it would “take months–not weeks” for such legislation to receive adequate attention.
