SCUBA Migrant Fished Alive from River

A Mexican national, trying to find an underwater route to America, was pulled out of the Colorado River Monday night by U.S. Border Patrol officials.

The unidentified man was wearing a small oxygen tank strapped over jeans and a long-sleeved shirt when he was fished out of the river in the Yuma border sector. He was said by officials to be uninjured and would eventually be sent back to Mexico after processing.

Others attempting water crossings–albeit sans SCUBA–have been unlucky of late. Officials in Texas have recovered the bodies of at least four drowning victims from the Rio Grande so far in July. Two others have been rescued.

The surge never stops.
