Fifty-five percent of voters believe that the federal government should deploy troops on the border to stop drug smuggling, according to an NBC News poll. The poll also found that 46 percent of voters would support a candidate who favors deployment of federal troops to stop the flow of illegal aliens across the border. Forty percent said that advocacy of this proposal would make them less likely to support a candidate.
