July Migrants Near Quarter Million

The total of illegal migrant encounters at the border is in for July, and it is through the roof. U.S. Customs and Border Protection encountered no fewer than 210,000 illegals entering the country last month. That makes for an average of 6,770 people every day. And that’s the ones who got caught. The CBP estimates perhaps another 37,000 got away, likely a significant under-estimate, which would bring the total of illegal migrants entering the United States to nearly a quarter million in just one month.

July’s count exceeded the total of 188,829 in June, which was itself the most in a single month in 21 years. So far this fiscal year, which ends in September, the total number of illegal encounters is 1.3 million. Todd Bensman of CIS.org writes:

The July numbers, once finalized and released in the next couple of weeks, will show that the border crisis is going from record high to record high in an upward climb into a red-zone crisis that will defy any control. . . .
