Come to New York, Get a Tent

It will be Tenting Tonight for many of the homeless illegal migrants in New York City. That’s the most recent idea floated by beleaguered mayor Eric Adams, according to the Wall Street Journal. Just in time for the winter season, the new policy will require that when a migrant’s time-limited stay at a city shelter ends at 60 days, he will be provided a personal tent that can be set up at a city park or other outdoor space.

Large, soft-sided, tent-like shelters have been used up to now, along with city-leased hotels and public buildings, but the large spaces necessary for their erection have run out. Now unhoused migrants will need to find their own spaces, somewhere.

Individual tents have for years been a tolerated nuisance in many cities around the country, including New York. Now, NYC is making them it official, thanks to Mayor Adams and Joe Biden.
