Poll: Illegal Immigration Is a Top Issue

A Rasmussen Poll found that 72 percent of likely voters believe that illegal immigration is a "somewhat" or "very important" issue for the midterm congressional elections. Sixty percent of Republicans agreed with this view, 32 percent of Democrats, and 32 percent of non-partisan voters.

Americans Do Most Jobs

A common claim of immigration advocates is that there are many jobs Americans won't do. The study, based on government statistics, notes that "Of the 474 civilian occupations, only six are majority immigrant (legal and illegal). These six occupations account for one percent of the total U.S. workforce. Moreover, native-born Americans still compromise 46 percent of workers in these occupations."

Senators Introduce Pro-ICE Resolution

Senators Bill Cassidy (R-LA) and David Perdue (R-GA) have introduced a resolution in the Senate, "Opposing the targeted harassment of U.s. Immigration and customs Enforcement officers and employees and reaffirming the fundamental principle that public services should be provided without discrimination."  The National ICE Council, the union representing ICE employees, thanked the senators for the resolution and noted that "National security, or even basic border security, does not exist without the interior enforcement of a nation’s immigration laws, as the horrific events of 9/11 and indeed terrorist attacks worldwide have proven. With over two million criminal aliens estimated to be currently residing in the U.S., our jails and prisons are already dramatically overcrowded, and local police are often overwhelmed, begging for ICE and its resources to assist in making our communities safer. Those calling for the abolishment of ICE don’t understand the significant threat to our nation’s security and the safety of American communities that their ideas present.”

Rep. King Warns of Violence

Rep. Steve King (R-IA) stated that continued high levels of immigration from Central and South America will jeopardize the safety of Americans. He noted that "[Nine] of the most violent countries in the world [and] sixteen of the top 20 are south of the Rio Grande. [Eighty-one percent] who cross the border illegally are young men. Young men in every society are the most violent segment. Importing millions of this demographic means death for Americans."

Illegal Alien Arrested for Tibbets Murder

An illegal alien from Mexico has been arrested for the murder of Mollie Tibbetts, a University of Iowa student whose disappearance last month drew national attention.  Iowa GOP Senators Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst issued the following statement: "Too many Iowans have been lost at the hands of criminals who broke our immigration laws. We cannot afford to allow these crimes to continue."

Trump Attacks ‘Abolish ICE’

President Trump took at the movement to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the federal agency that does interior enforcement of immigration law. Prompting this movement is the president's policy of having ICE enforce the law more aggressively than in the past. "Tragically," the president charged, "the brave men and women of ICE have recently been subjected to a nationwide campaign of smears, insults and attacks by politicians shamelessly catering to the extreme elements in our society."

ACLU Sues Administration on Asylum

The radical-left American Civil Liberties has sued the Trump Administration for its "expedited removal" asylum policy. The administration affirms the traditional standards of asylum, admission on the basis of a "credible fear" of persecution on the basis of race, religion, nationality, social group, or political opinion. The ACLU wants asylum include people seeking to flee high crime rates and domestic violence. Critics maintain that this expansion would dilute the concept and meaning of asylum.

Viewers Support Ingraham

Left-wing critics vehemently attacked Fox News host Laura Ingram for her recent statement that most Americans don't like the "massive demographic changes" forced on them by mass immigration. Some of the critics labeled her a "Nazi" and "absolute evil."  Evidently viewers don't agree.  In the week following her statement, drew a larger audience for her time slot than both CNN and MSNBC.
