Among them Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), Ben Cardin (D-MD), and Tim Kaine (D-VA). House Passes Amnesty Bill

By  a margin of 236 to 187, the House passed a bill granting amnesty to illegal aliens and permanent residence status to individuals now covered by Temporary Protected Status. Those covered, a total of 2.1 million, would have a pathway to become citizens. All House Democrats voted and seven Republicans voted for this legislation. An opponent of the bill, Rep. Mike Rogers (R-AL), stated that "[It] does nothing to address our [border] crisis. Instead, it tells an entire generation of illegal immigrants that breaking our laws is rewarded.” Read more at news.yahoo.com  By  a margin of 236 to 187, the House passed a bill granting amnesty to illegal aliens and permanent residence status to individuals now covered by Temporary Protected Status. Smugglers Give Discount for Children

The Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) interviewed Monica Maple, an investigator for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), for one of its reports.  The report stated:  "Mapel said human smugglers or brokers in home countries cut package deals where a parent provides a child (especially if parents have more than one) to a child-less migrant for a fee or an in-kind reduction in the real parent's own smuggling fee. Such packages can reach $7,000 for transportation, food, doctored birth certificates, and the child. 'If you have children to spare during your trip to the U.S., your trip is not as expensive,' she explained. "The child, real parent, unrelated adult client, and smuggler often make the trip together. Only at the border is the child and bogus birth certificate given over to the paying migrant, who is expected to return the child days or weeks later once everyone is inside the United States." Thanks to a loophole in U.S. law, migrants know that bringing children with them increases the likelihood that they will be able to stay in the U.S. after making asylum claims.  Read more at cis.org

Employers Rarely Prosecuted for Hiring Illegala

In 1986 Congress enacted a compromise immigration bill. For advocates of border control it provided criminal penalties for employers who knowingly hired illegal aliens. For illegal alien advocates, it gave legal status and a path to citizenship for millions of illegal aliens.  The "compromise" proved to  be one sided. Prosecution of employers who hire illegals has been rare. Since passage of the bill, the annual number of employer prosecutions has seldom exceeded 15 a year.  From April 2018 to March 2019, only 11 individuals were charged.  Read more at trac.syr.edu

Flores Ruling Promotes Illegal Immigration

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI), head of the Senate Homeland Defense Committee, disagrees with the claim that the recent surge of illegal illegal immigration, particularly so-called family units, is the result of high crime rates and other bad conditions in Central America. The real reasons, he maintains, that the Flores court order accepted by the Obama Administration. It prevents the holding of children, brought by illegal aliens who claim asylum, for more than 20 days. This has had the practical consequence of forcing U.S. authorities to release both the adults and children in the U.S. with the promises of the adults that they will show up for asylum hearings. Commonly they don't.  Sen. Johnson maintains that this situation has given people in Central America  a powerful incentive to come to the U.S. with children, many times not their own, and make bogus asylum claims. The senator produced a chart showing that this kind of illegal immigration rose dramatically after the Obama Administration allowed the Flores ruling to stand.      Read more at breitbart.com
