Mystery Migrants Arrive in Denver

Denver sources are reporting that as many as 150 illegal migrants, mostly from Venezuela, arrived overnight Monday. The migrants apparently arrived by bus at the city’s Union Station and thereafter walked several blocks to a shelter managed by the Rescue Mission. Some were housed there Monday night and by the next day, the city had opened an emergency shelter at a location undisclosed due to “security concerns and the sensitivity of the developing situation.”

No one seems to know where the migrants came from, other than somewhere near the border. Interviews have yielded no reliable information, as the stories they are telling “are not matching up.” Texas Governor Greg Abbott denied being the source, stating that Texas is sending migrants only to Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Chicago, and New York City. A spokesman for Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey denied Arizona’s involvement, and the office of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis did not immediately answer inquiries.

The Democrat governor of New Mexico, Michelle Lujan Grisham, is known to have paid to transport some migrants to Denver in 2019, but there is no evidence currently that this is New Mexico’s handiwork.

The Democrat-led city of El Paso was conducting its own busing–to NYC–program earlier this year and was on the verge of declaring a local state of emergency when the White House told them to desist, for fear of “making the President look bad.”

As for Denver, a sanctuary city, its leaders say that for now all are welcome. Former Denver mayor and current junior senator from Colorado John Hickenlooper, a Democrat, issued a statement saying the city greets the migrants “with open arms,” but decries what he assumes are “partisan games.” At this point, if these are such games, they’re being played by unknown players.
