Former Miss. Gov. Haley Barbour, a leading GOP Establishment political operative and lobbyist, joined Democrat rising star San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro this week to call for amnesty for illegal aliens.
Barbour appeared beside Castro at a “Civil Rights Summit” in Austin, TX, where he contended that amnesty would be good for the country but Republicans thought it was politically dangerous for them to vote for it. Castro commented that, after the GOP House primaries ended, leaders Boehner and Cantor might find it easier to pass amnesty.
