Abbott Increases Busing

As the border crisis grows, Governor Greg Abbott has ordered an increase in the busing of migrants from the Texas border region to the sanctuary cities of Chicago, New York City, and Philadelphia. The first bus of about 50 migrants arrived in Chicago late Tuesday morning after a journey from Laredo, Texas.

Officials with the Office of the Texas Governor told Breitbart Texas on Tuesday that the State of Texas is stepping up the busing of migrants from the border region to sanctuary cities in response to the most recent migrant surge. Three buses left Texas this week heading to Chicago, New York City, and Washington, D.C., where they were dropped off near Vice President Kamala Harris’ residence on Christmas Eve. The White House has condemned Abbott’s actions as a “cruel, dangerous, and shameful stunt” that puts lives in danger and does nothing to solve the immigration problem.

Abbott has defended his decision, saying that he is providing “much-needed relief” to the overwhelmed border communities and that he will continue the program until Biden secures the border. He has also accused the federal government of being hypocritical and failing to do their job. Abbott has been busing migrants to Democratic areas since September 2022, spending more than $12 million on the trips.

The end of Title 42 is expected to worsen the situation at the border and increase the number of arrivals. Both Abbott and Lightfoot have urged Biden to reconsider his plan to end the policy on May 11. Border officials have already warned that they expect a record surge of people across the border in the coming months.
