The Border Patrol is bracing the massive surge of illegal immigration that likely will follow the termination tomorrow of Title 42, a provision which allowed speedy expulsion of illegal aliens. How great will this surge initially be?
One indication comes from Jonathan Lines, a supervisor on Arizona’s Yuma County Board of Supervisors. He stated that “Border Patrol shared with us their intelligence that there [were] approximately 700,000 . . . in the shelters in Mexico waiting to come into the United States.” The Border Patrol also informed the Board that the America-bound flow of migrants through the Darien Gap between Colombia and Panama had increased by 500 percent.
