In an interview with Border Hawk, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) stated that the situation on our southern border is “disaster, a total crisis.” He further commented that “We’ve got a president, we’ve got a secretary of Homeland Security who won’t even admit it’s a problem.”
Border Hawk asked Sen. Johnson about the Secure Border Act of 2023. This measure, co-sponsored by the senator, is the companion bill of the Border Act (H.R.2) which passed the House. These bills would help to secure the border by building more border fences, cracking down on asylum fraud, and defunding non-governmental organizations that traffic illegal aliens into our country.
The senator said that prospects for passage in the Senate are pretty slim. “My guess,” he observed, “is that the Democrats will resist it, and even if you pass something, I doubt that this lawless administration will implement the law.”
