UK: Muslim Mob 1, Britons 0

In Glasgow last week, immigration officials attempted to remove, from a heavily Muslim neighborhood, two Indian nationals suspected of unnamed immigration offenses. Almost immediately, hundreds of protestors surrounded the government van, preventing it from leaving. After a day-long standoff, Glasgow police ordered the Home Office officials to release the two men, setting off a celebration on Glasgow’s immigrant-rich southside.

Humza Yousaf, the Scottish government’s justice secretary, called the Home Office actions “completely reckless” and promised to take up the matter with Home Secretary Priti Patel. One high-ranking Labour politician called for Patel herself to be deported for having the temerity to enforce the law. He however was criticized by other Labourites, including Gurinder Singh Josan, a member of the party’s ruling National Executive Committee, who declared, “I totally disagree on pretty much everything with Priti Patel, but this is simply dog-whistle racism against a woman of colour.”
