Title 42 Ends; Migrants Push North

On Friday of last week, the Biden administration announced that it would end Title 42 expulsions effective May 23. The CDC program to contain COVID-19 had been the last holdover of President Trump’s efforts to stem the onrush of illegals into the United States. Its inevitable discontinuance had been expected to spur even more aggressive efforts on the part of the world’s excess to enter America, one way or another.

And so it is happening.

On Friday, the same day as the announcement, hundreds of migrants from Haiti, Central America, and elsewhere clashed with Mexican police and National Guard in an effort to break out of Tapachula, the southern Mexico city where thousands have been bottled up for months.

The migrants used an Easter cross as a battering ram in an attempt to force their way through the police lines. Some of the migrants managed to break through, spreading out upon dirt roads and paths leading from the city. The rest retreated to the sanctuary of a local church.

According to the Daily Mail, “Since Biden took office at the end of January 2021, CBP has encountered more than 2.2 million migrants illegally crossing or claiming asylum at the southern border – and when numbers are released for March it will show 1 million crossed in just the last six months.”

Yet the above figures represent only the beginning. With the total number of worldwide migrants topping 281 million (as of 2020, according to the UN), not including the new millions from Ukraine, and a government in Washington doing everything but issuing engraved invitations, we are on the brink of an inundation never before witnessed in history.

While American citizens amuse themselves with sports and the antics of Hollywood celebrities.
