French presidential candidate Éric Zemmour has made immigration control a key theme of his campaign. Recently he proposed deportation of one million foreigners living in France, including illegal aliens and legal residents who have committed crimes. He would create a Ministry of Remigration to carry out the deportation.
Other candidates and the media have denounced Zemmour’s plan and called it “divisive,” but a poll found that 55 percent of the French people support it.
