Third Busload of Migrants Arrives in LA

The third busload of illegal migrants in a month has arrived in Los Angeles after departing Texas. This week Gov. Greg Abbott of Texas sent 30 migrants from Texas to California by bus, his third export since June 14, when about 40 were dropped off at St. Anthony’s Croatian Church in L.A.’s Chinatown.

Later, on July 1, a second bus, from Brownsville, Texas, delivered a similar number to the same church. That bus contained passengers from eight different countries, including Cuba, Belize, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Venezuela.

The passengers on the most recent bus, which arrived at Union Station around 12:40 PM PT Thursday, were placed on a local bus and delivered to the same church as the previous two. Also departing from Brownsville, it contained passengers from Haiti, Venezuela, and Mexico. Although leaving Texas with 35 passengers, the bus dropped five in the small town of Salome, Arizona, en route. Some of the passengers arriving in LA were met there by relatives already living in the area.

So far, the three buses sent by Texas to California have held about 118 migrants, a small percentage of the approximately 22,000 Gov. Abbott has sent since last year to various sanctuary states and cities, including New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Denver, and Washington, DC. Although officials at the receiving municipalities have protested vehemently, Texas officials have been careful to ensure all the migrants have volunteered for the opportunity of free transportation to their favored places. Even the Los Angeles Times has admitted that the offers are typically received as good news by the migrants:

However, many migrants have eagerly boarded the buses. For those with few resources, a free bus ride to reunite with family in cities distant from the border is a welcome offer. That’s why in Los Angeles, as well as other destination cities, nonprofit groups have decided to collaborate with the program, albeit begrudgingly. Though committed to getting migrants relocation assistance and helping communities prepare to welcome them, the aid groups are loath to support Abbott’s political protest.

As usual, elite leftists believe they know what’s best for everyone, and would much prefer the migrants remain where they are as a problem for Texas and not themselves.
