The Denver Post Deceives

The Quote Below—More Misinformation from the Media

“The mayors of Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles and New York are pressing to meet with President Joe Biden about getting federal help in managing the surge of migrants they say are arriving in their cities with little to no coordination, support or resources from his administration.

“The Democratic leaders say in a letter obtained by The Associated Press on Wednesday that while they appreciate Biden’s efforts so far, much more needs to be done to ease the burden on their cities.

“Migrants are sleeping in police station foyers in Chicago. In New York, a cruise ship terminal was turned into a shelter. In Denver, the number of migrants arriving has increased tenfold and available space to shelter them has withered. With fewer available work authorizations, these migrants cannot find work that would allow them to get into proper housing.

“Denver Mayor Mike Johnston, who is leading the coalition, said nearly every conversation he has had with arriving migrants is the same: Can he help them find a job, they ask.

“ ‘The crisis is we have folks here who desperately want to work. And we have employers here who desperately want to hire them. And we have a federal government that’s standing in the way of employers who want to hire employees who want to work,’ Johnston said.

“Also signing on were the mayors of the country’s four largest cities: Eric Adams of New York, Karen Bass of Los Angeles, Brandon Johnson of Chicago and Sylvester Turner of Houston.

“The situation at the U.S.-Mexico border has vexed the Democratic president, who is seeking reelection in 2024. He is increasingly under fire from members of his own party who are managing the growing number of migrants in their cities. Republicans claim Biden is soft on border security and is allowing too many people to enter the United States.

“He has responded by toughening rules at the border meant to curb illegal crossings and by offering work authorizations and other incentives to those who come to the U.S. legally — applying ahead of time and arriving by plane. . . .

“Biden has requested $1.4 billion from Congress to help state and local governments provide shelter and services for migrants, after earlier pleas from Democratic mayors and governors.. . . “– The Mayors of Five Big Cities—Including Denver—Seek a Meeting with Biden about How to Manage Arriving Migrants, Colleen Long, The Denver Post, 11/13/23 [Link]

Fact Check of Above Quote: It’s interesting how the leaders of sanctuary cities are complaining about the consequences of their policies—not that these consequences are likely to change their views. As this article suggests, they probably will keep attributing their problems to lack of federal funding. Once the dollars from Washington start flowing, it will be back to sanctuary business as usual.

The article quotes the mayor of Denver saying that the crisis offers the possibility of employers having access to more employees. It makes no mention, however, of how this access will impact the opportunities and wages of low skilled American workers. It’s interesting that the Post didn’t solicit comments from some of those workers to get their perspectives.

Certainly this article shows its slant from the beginning. But as it continues, it goes from mild bias to over-the-top distortion. Such is the statement that the situation on the border has “vexed” Joe Biden. In reality, it hasn’t vexed him a bit. The situation on the border is exactly the outcome that Biden and his administration have striven to create. Evidently, they are acting on the plan that Democrat strategist Robert Creamer outlined years ago: open the gates to illegal aliens, give them amnesty and make them voters. In gratitude, they will cast their ballots for Democrats—and pave the way for America to become a one-party state. If anything vexes the administration at all, it is how to hide its strategy during an election year.

Fortunately for the administration, it has media like The Denver Post to manipulate public opinion away from reality. Take, for example, the assertion this article makes that a border out of control it is just a “claim” by Republicans. We’re not supposed to notice the official statistics showing record levels of crossings.

Consider also the assertion that Biden has responded to the border crisis “by toughening rules at the border meant to curb illegal crossings.” And just what rules might those be? In reality, Biden has lawlessly created a parallel immigration system which allows a huge number of illegal aliens to enter our country legally on the bogus pretext that they are asylum seekers. Many Border Patrol agents are removed from their duties on the border to do paperwork for these illegals.

A certain German leader once stated that people will believe a Big Lie if it is repeated enough. With respect to immigration, our “mainstream” media are on board with this notion.
